Emergency Shelters with VHF/UHF Antennas

Keys for following shelters and fire stations can be obtained from the on-duty dispatcher at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (SO). They are located in the key lock box in the SO. Where combination locks are indicated, the combination can be obtained from the on-duty operator at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) usually also in the SO.

Port Townsend Community Center: Key tag # 334. There are two keys, one for the outer door, the other for the inner office where the antenna coax enters the room.

Gardiner Community Center: Key tag # 333. There are two keys, one for the front door. The purpose of the other is unknown. The antenna coax is in an unlocked storage closet on the left side of the large meeting room. Chairs and a couple of cabinets may have to be moved to access the cable.

Tri-area Community Center: Key tag #325. There are three keys. Entrance key is for the back door at the north end of the building, not the basement entrance. Antenna coax is in the storage room in the basement meeting room. This door may be locked or unlocked. One of the other keys will open it.

Cape George Fire Hall: Key tag #327 (this key is also for the Airport Fire Hall). Entry to fire hall is in the rear of building. The antenna coax is coiled up in the hose tower. Climb the ladder and unroll it.

Airport Fire Hall: Key tag #327 (the same key is for the Cape George Fire Hall). Entry door is on the west side of building, as is the antenna coax.

Port Ludlow Fire Hall: Key tag #331. There are two keys, one is to gain entrance to the fire hall, the other is to the chief's office where the antenna coax is located. The cable comes out of the wall near the floor behind a couch at the back of the office.

Quilcene Community Center: No key at SO. If no one is in the center, see Jerry in the trailer in the park next to the center. Arrangements have been made by Jack W7LD to obtain the key from him. The antenna coax comes through the wall behind a cabinet in the north east corner of the room.

Brinnon Fire Hall: No key at SO. There is a combination lock on hose tower door, contact EOC for combination. The antenna coax hangs behind entry door of the hose tower.

Coyle Fire Hall: No key at SO. There is a combination lock on door on north side of building, contact EOC for combination. The antenna coax enters room half way up the same wall as the entry door.

Direction Finders for ELT/EPIRB Locating

There are three Direction finders (Elpers): one is at the SO, two are located in the Quilcene Sheriff's Annex. The ELT Team leaders know how and where they can be picked up.
