ARES/RACES and the American Radio Relay League (ARRL)

JCARES is affiliated with the ARRL in that it's emergency services are organized under ARES which is a Public Service Branch of the ARRL. This branch of the ARRL also includes NTS or National Traffic Service which relays messages of a non commercial nature for individuals and families principally at times of disaster when normal means of communication may be unavailable or degraded. JCARES non emergency services, such as parade communications, are within the structure of RACES which is recognized by the ARRL.
